going green!

♻
Firstly my money plant is growing! yay...
i think it needs some companionship,
so I'm gonna look for another plant to grow old along with it. :)

♻
Secondly my very first Nalgene bottle!
I have not been very good at drinking water
and often find my skin so dry that it splits and tears easily.
So here is my new inspiration to hydration!

♻
On another green note, I'm happy that
my town council replanted
the dying plants along Holland Avenue!
The street looks really pretty now.

The bounty hunter is on the search for more good stuff!
will be back soon...

My aunty used to say "remember to put sunblock"

My Grandma's favourite Lor Mee

The best Lor Mee to date and most authentic according to my 85-yr-old grandma is at the coffeeshop of Blk 109 Bukit Purmei Road. (Closed on Mondays)
Here are some photos of the stall.
Lor Mee is essentially a Hokkien dish, here is what goes into this particular one:
>Flat thick yellow egg noodles
>Slices of braised pork
>Roast pork
>Crunchy flour bits like croutons
>Gravy is made of sweet potato flour
>Topped off with vinegar, chopped red chillies and finely chopped garlic

The origins of Ribena?

My grandma bought some of this reddish bud flowers from Tiong Bahru market ( I took this pic to find out more) and the lady seller told her to boil it with rock sugar to make into a drink. She tried and it tastes a little like Ribena. I found out here that this is actually a specie of the Hibiscus. Apparently they can be made into wine, thrown into salads and even fried. Hmm, maybe I'll ask my grandma to try frying them somehow and we'll see what happens.

My next project is to finish up that Cloud mobile that I have been wanting to do... :)
And oh, start on my reading list too. Ugh.

Skype Lectures are fun!

Since the ministry of education here implemented new policies and rulings on higher education service providers, UNSW (Univ of New South Wales) with whom I'm doing my Masters of Design at, is affected and is not able to adhere to the new rules, one of which is to set up a proper office and school. This is not feasible since they only get small batches of Masters students each year. So we have had to adjust and change the delivery methods of our Masters program. So we Skype! I think its cool and its the way to go!
Its much better than having the lecturers fly down from Sydney to give intense full day lectures on weekends. I get the lectures on evenings now in 2 hr sessions which are more digestable! But I pity the lecturers who are giving us these lectures in the nights since Sydney is 2 hours ahead of Singapore. :P

See this community cat of Singapore... how sweet and indignant.
